Feeling Follows Focus...

Recently journaling and asking myself questions regarding my own inner practice, something was revealed that I find very helpful, so I’m sharing. Journaling is quite personal, and I rarely share details publicly. But when it stimulates something that feels relevant for more than just my own personal growth, I find my fingers are already typing out a blog. So here we are…
As I was writing about working with uncomfortable feelings, I was reminded to bring more focus into the central channel of the body, where Intuition lives (in me anyway). We’ve learned that the female primal brain tends to work in a diffuse way. That’s why we buzz around doing a million things, having a million conversations, or a million different ideas within one sometimes-very-long conversation, keeping our eyes on the whole environment rather than one spot, watching out for everyone and everything. The male tends to be more single focused, needing us to get to the point, and this primal difference between us can cause all sorts of relational issues. It is useful and important for our mental health that we harness our energy in a focused way so that we can see, hear, and process intuitive information more clearly. So often, when I ask women who are experiencing a challenge to access their feelings around it, their reply is in an “I don’t know” space because the attention is so diffuse, so much is being processed all at once. What I know is that when the attention is focused, the Intuition, where the knowing IS, is much more strongly felt and heard.

In daily life, and in meditation practice, we can bring our attention to the central channel of our body, and listen. Or, ask within where you need to be drawn to focus and access Intuition, and follow that guidance. I find that using the exhale is a great way to anchor the attention anywhere, focusing the energy. I have followed Intuition when I’ve created anything, like music, writing, working with clients, decisions about relationships, travel…life in general. And it is when I get distracted and feel disconnected from Intuition that confusion and anxiety can creep in. When I reconnect, more clarity, calm and gratitude is always there. Always. It helps me greet anxious feelings with much more power and compassion, as a wellspring. And I think we are each designed to be connected with our inner wellspring which is connected with a Universal field, reflecting greater joy and well-being in its flow.
Thank you for reading. And if you breezed through this blog, you might consider, as an exercise, reading it again from your Intuition, and see what comes through for you…
May your own unique voice of Intuition speak clearly and fully through you and uplift you in your spirit…a great service to everyone around you.
Deepest regards, Melanie

You put into simple and clear words such complex concepts. It is a soothing gift to read your thoughts, Mel. I love going on the journey with you. These journeys into your Higher Self. It is also a journey into the Universal flow of which we are all a part. Thank you for sharing. And I love the explanation of male vs female. Clearly, we are all tapping into these two complementary sides of our own selves all the time. But knowing that we can tap more fully into one side at any given time is a good reminder of how best to maneuver our daily lives.
Beautiful and just what I needed at this moment. It's moving day! The 4th move in the last 3 years--finally to a more permanent residence. Stressful, chaotic living conditions challenge me to the utmost, and I needed this reminder to EXHALE! Thank you!
